HIGH SCHOOL BASS FISHING TOURNAMENT KICKS OFF TOMORROW

(NEWTON) In High School Bass Fishing –

The statewide IHSA Sectional Tournaments are slated for tomorrow, with 25 Sectionals scheduled throughout the state, with most of the area anglers heading to Newton Lake in Jasper County.

  • With check-in time from 6:00 to 7:15, the fishing time runs from 8:00 to 3:00
  • The top four boats will get medallions, plus medallions for the largest bass
  • The top three boats will advance to the State Finals at Carlyle Lake in mid-May

In the event of bad weather, the Sectional will be rescheduled for Monday, May 6th, no more than two boats with two anglers from each school team can participate.

  • Along with those from the high schools in Olney and Newton, the others include
  • North Clay/Clay City, Flora, South Central, Patoka, Salem, St. Anthony,
  • Teutopolis, Brownstown/St. Elmo, Oblong, Palestine, and Fairfield

The other two downstate Sectionals on Thursday include

  • On Rend Lake down near Ina and on Lake Shelbyville
