(SPRINGFIELD) Early voting sites are now open in nearly every Illinois county today, with the exception of Cook County and the City of Chicago, where things will get going in early October. Since 2015, early voting in the Land of Lincoln has traditionally started 40 days prior to election day. The Illinois State Board of Elections says that most all of the early voting is done at county clerk’s offices with a few added sites throughout October.
(SPRINGFIELD) The Attorney General’s Office has released a 2024 Voter Misinformation Guide to help statewide voters identify and report election misinformation generated by artificial intelligence (AI), which is increasingly being used to create fake, but realistic content about the November election and its candidates. While the AI-generated content can include misleading videos, images, or audio, the Guide offers tips for spotting such content and more. (SPRINGFIELD) Following a hearing from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration about food additives held yesterday, the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association and others say they are encouraged the agency is spearheading “a thoughtful & systematic view of food additives” to help prevent a confusing and costly patchwork of regulations. The Secretary of State’s Office in Illinois is pushing for stricter regulations on certain food additives in Illinois.
