(OLNEY)  in Major League Baseball over the weekend – the Cardinals dropped three in New York
* the Redbirds lost to the Yankees Friday night, 4-3
* the Cardinals lost Saturday afternoon, 3-2 and fell again to the Yankees last night, 9-3
the Cardinals are back at home for a quick three games series starting tonight against the Pirates

 

(OLNEY/NEWTON)  in Girls High School Track Friday – the Sam Bennett Invitational was at Robinson
* Teutopolis won the 15 team event by beating out 2nd place Newton, 112 to 91
* the host Lady Maroons were 3rd with 59 points, followed by Neoga (51) and Shelbyville (46.5)
* Cowden-Herrick was 6th (44), followed by Olney in 7th place (38), then Benton (32), & Cumberland (28)
* Brownstown / St. Elmo was 10th (23), followed by Paris (15), and Altamont (8)
* then Palestine-Hutsonville (6.5), Red Hill (4), and Lawrenceville (0) rounded out the remaining teams
the 7th place Olney Lady Tigers won one of the eighteen events with eight top-ten finishes
* Tara Hughes won the high jump
* Cameron Hough won the 3200 meter run
* Leah Snyder was 2nd in the shot put
* Danni Murphy was 3rd in the high jump
* Chelsea Ochs was 5th in the 100 meter dash
* Gracie Julian was 6th in the 1600 meter run
* Danni Murphy, Abby Rauch, Chelsea Ochs, and Pandora Worrell were 6th in the 4x200 meter relay

the varsity Lady Tigers are back in action this Friday when they will host the Olney Relays at RCHS

(NEWTON)  in High School Softball Saturday – Newton played well at the Greenville Tournament
the Lady Eagles won the first game over host Greenville, 5-2 although Newton was outhit, 8 to 6
Newton then lost the second game to Mascoutah, 4-1 as the Lady Eagles were outhit, 8 to 2
and the Lady Eagles won the third game over South Central, 5-4 as Newton was outhit, 7 to 6
* Newton’s winning pitchers were Kristen Hardiek and Olivia Shipman
* Kristen Hardiek led Newton at the plate with 2 hits, 3 RBI, and 1 run scored
* Olivia Shipman had 2 hits, 1 RBI, and 1 run scored – Kenzi Smith had 1 hit, 2 RBI, and 2 run scored
at 6-5 on the year, the Lady Eagles are scheduled for LIC action today at Red Hill

 

(OLNEY)  in High School Softball Saturday – Olney lost a tough non-LIC game at home
the Lady Tigers lost to North Knox, Indiana, 4-3 as the hits were even at 8 apiece
* Taylor LeCrone had a 2 RBI hit and Madisyn Wease had 2 doubles and 1 RBI
* Sophia Colclasure and Kennedy Steber each had 2 hits
now at 10-4 on the year, the Lady Tigers are scheduled for non-LIC action at Edwards County

 

(OLNEY)  in Junior Varsity Softball Saturday – Olney won their game at home in RCHS
the JV Lady Tigers beat North Knox, 10-6 as Olney outhit the visitors, 11 to 8
* Paige Troyer, Lyndsey Mulvey, and Kaylei Eubank each had 2 hits and 2 RBI
the JV Lady Tigers are scheduled for action tomorrow at Newton

* the Lady Knights are scheduled to play a GRAC doubleheader today at Kaskaskia College
the OCC baseball team is 33-6 on the year and 14-1 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference
* the Blue Knights are back in action tomorrow with a single GRAC game against Wabash Valley at OCC
while the Blue Knights have 3 weeks of their regular season remaining, the Lady Knights have 2 weeks left

the Cardinals are back in Yankee Stadium for game two of the series this afternoon in New York

 

(OLNEY)  in Junior College Baseball yesterday - OCC split two games on the road
* the Blue Knights won the first game against Rend Lake, 5-4 then lost to the Warriors, 7-6
* OCC improves to 33-6 on the year and are now 14-1 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference
the Blue Knights are back in GRAC action next Tuesday when they host Wabash Valley

 

(OLNEY)  in Junior College Softball yesterday - OCC swept two games at home in Olney
* the Lady Knights beat Shawnee Community College, 7-3 and 15-7
* OCC improves to 23-17 on the year and are now 12-14 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference

(OLNEY)  in Junior College Baseball yesterday – Olney Central College won a single GRAC game at home
* the Blue Knights beat Rend Lake, 3-1
now at 32-5 on the year, the Blue Knights are still undefeated in the GRAC at 13-0
OCC is back in GRAC action today with a doubleheader down at Rend Lake College near Ina

 

(OLNEY)  in Junior College Softball yesterday – OCC split a pair of GRAC games on the road
* the Lady Knights beat John A. Logan, 2-0 then lost to the Lady Volunteers, 7-3
now at 21-17 on the year, the Lady Knights are 10-14 in the GRAC
OCC is back in GRAC action today with a doubleheader with Shawnee here in Olney at OCC

 

(OLNEY)  in Boys High School Tennis – Olney won a rescheduled match at home
Olney defeated Charleston, 9-0
the Tigers won all six of the singles matches, all in two sets each
* Connor Walker won the #1 singles match, 6-4, 6-0
* Austin Atwood won the #2 singles match, 6-1, 6-1
* Tanner Hendrickson won the #3 singles match, 6-2, 6-3
* Jack Bettis won the #4 singles match, 6-0, 6-0
* Kye Stallard won the #5 singles match, 6-0, 6-0
* Adam Brewer won the #6 singles match, 6-0, 6-1
Olney also won all three of the doubles matches, each in two sets each
* Jack Bettis and Kye Stallard won the #1 doubles match, 6-0, 6-2
* brothers Cade and Coen McDowell won the #2 doubles match, 6-3, 6-4

the Eagles beat Marshall, 4-0 as the hits were even at 4 apiece
* John Grunloh was Newton’s winning pitcher, allowing no earned runs and striking out 8
* Mitch Bierman led Newton with 2 hits and 2 RBI while Mitch Jansen had an RBI hit
the Eagles improve to 5-4 on the year and now 2-1 in the Little Illini Conference
Newton is back in action next Monday with an LIC game against Red Hill in Bridgeport

the Tigers lost the one run game to Paris, 5-4 in eight innings as the hits were even at six each
* seniors Gage Miller and Jake Griefzu led Olney with 2 hits each – Lucas Harmon had a 2 RBI hit
the Tigers fall back to 7-5 on the year and now 2-1 in the Little Illini Conference

* the Lady Cubs won the varsity meet by edging out 2nd place Red Hill, 65 to 61 – Palestine was 3rd
Olney won six of the varsity events with seven 2nd place finishes – the winners include
* Madelyn Rusk, Korbyn Foster, Sarah Ingram, and Maria Mayorga in the 4x100 meter relay
* Morgan Puckett, Katelynn Ferguson, Gloria Beal, and Kristen Greenwood in the 4x200 meter relay
* Carley Greenwood in the 400 meter dash
* Maria Mayorga in both the 100 meter dash and the long jump
* Jocelyn VanMatre in the high jump
Olney lost the 7th grade meet by 3 points, falling to Red Hill, 62 to 59 – Palestine finished 3rd

* the Redbirds beat the Nationals, 6-1 as they salvaged the final of three games in Washington, D.C.
with today off, the Cardinals are in New York for a weekend series against the Yankees

 

(OLNEY)  in Junior College Baseball – Olney Central College has won four of its last five games
* the Blue Knights swept two GRAC games at Shawnee Community College Tuesday, 9-5 and 11-4
* the day before, on Monday, OCC split two with Kentucky Wesleyan, winning 15-0 and losing, 3-2
* and yesterday, the Blue Knights beat Vincennes University, 15-5
now at 31-5 on the year, the Blue Knights are still undefeated in the GRAC at 12-0
OCC is back in GRAC action today with a single game with Rend Lake on Conley Field in Olney

after tomorrow off, the Cardinals head to New York for a weekend series against the Yankees

 

(OLNEY)  in Junior College Softball yesterday – Olney Central College swept two games at home
* the Lady Knights won the GRAC doubleheader from Lincoln Trail, 3-1 and 7-6
the Lady Knights improve to 9-13 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference, now 20-16 on the year
OCC is back in GRAC action with a doubleheader tomorrow at John A. Logan down in Carterville

the Tigers beat visiting Effingham, 7 to 2 as Olney won all six of the singles matches

the Lady Eagles beat St. Anthony, 7-2 as the hits were even at 11 for each team
* Olivia Shipman was the winning pitcher, allowing 2 earned runs and striking out 3
* Ariel Richards led Newton with 3 hits and 2 runs scored
* Abby Frohning and Olivia Shipman each had 2 hits and 1 RBI – Maddie Stanley also had 2 hits
the Lady Eagles are back in action tomorrow at home in an LIC game against Marshall

the Eagles beat Dieterich, 4-2 as Newton outhit the host Movin’ Maroons, 9 to 6
* Nick Cohorst was Newton’s winning pitcher, allowing 1 earned run and striking out 4
* Lucas Geier led the Eagles with 2 hits and 1 RBI – John Grunloh also had 2 hits
* Nate Meinhart and Mitch Bierman each had an RBI hit
the Eagles improve to 4-4 on the year – they’re back in LIC action tomorrow at home against Marshall

Newton and Teutopolis tied for first place, each with 83 points – Brownstown / St. Elmo had 13 points
the Lady Eagles won seven of the eighteen events and had nine 2nd place finishes
* Courtney Hadra won the discus throw
* Brooklyn Herman won the long jump
* Sydney Rudolphi won the 800 meter run
* Miranda Clinton won the 1600 meter run
* Emma Weber won the 200 meter dash and was 2nd in both the triple jump and the 400 meter run
* Newton won both the 4x400 meter relay and the 4x800 meter relay – the relay runners were not provided

the host Wooden Shoes beat 2nd place Newton, 94 to 48 – Brownstown / St. Elmo was 3rd with 20 points
the Eagles won five of the eighteen events – Newton also had four 2nd’s and four 3rd’s
* Colton Goode won both the pole vault and the 110 meter hurdles
* Adam Bridges won the 100 meter dash
* Tyler Marble won the 300 meter hurdles
* Newton won the 4x200 meter relay – the runners were not identified
* Jadon Kuhl was 2nd in the high jump

the JV Tigers beat Newton, 7-4 as the hits were even in the game at 7 apiece
* Kaleb Foster was the winning pitcher, allowing no runs and striking out 3 in four innings of work
* Chase Williams had 2 hits and 1 RBI and Kaleb Foster had 2 hits and 2 RBI
the 6-1 JV Tigers are back in action today at Lawrenceville
