(OLNEY)  in Major League Baseball – it’s back to action tonight with a limited schedule including seven games, one of which has the Cubs hosting the Marlins at Wrigley Field  :  coming up tomorrow night – the Cardinals start a series in Cincinnati against the Reds and the White Sox open up a series in Detroit
 
(OLNEY)  in auto racing news – the “Indiana Sprint Week” series continued last night at the Terre Haute Action Track with the fourth of seven 30-lap features – it was Chris Windom taking the checkered flag, as the Canton, Illinois native now has a 40-point lead in the ISW point standings – while Levi Jones finally broke into the top ten in the ISW races, finishing 10th last night, the Olney native still leads the new AMSOIL National Sprint Car Standings with a 7-point lead over Windom – the next “Indiana Sprint Week” race is tonight at the Brownstown Speedway with the final two races tomorrow night & Saturday night

(OLNEY)  in Little League All-Star post-season tournament action :
*  the Olney 11&12 Year Old All-Stars last night won the District One Tournament with a 13-3 victory over host Salem – the older All-Stars advance to the Tolono Section Tournament for an 8:00 Friday night game
*  the Olney 9&10 Year Old All-Stars will play tonight in the 6:00 championship game at the District One Tournament in Lawrenceville – originally set for last night, the first championship game was moved back due to Tuesday night’s thunderstorm activity – the younger Olney All-Star team is currently undefeated

(OLNEY)  in Major League Baseball last night – the National League beat the American League, 5-1  :  so now it’s back to regular season baseball later this week – for the Cardinals on Friday night at Cincinnati – also for the White Sox on Friday night – and for the Cubs tomorrow night at Wrigley Field in Chicago

(OLNEY)  it’s the All-Star Break in Major League Baseball as the mid-season classic will be played tomorrow night – the Cardinals will resume their 2011 season this coming Friday night in Cincinnati
 
(OLNEY)  in post-season little league action from the 9&10 year old District One Tournament being played over at Lawrenceville – Olney beat Mt Carmel in semi-final action last night, 10-7 – it was earlier, this past Sunday, that Olney beat Salem, 15-1 after Olney’s first round bye – the Olney All-Stars will return to action tomorrow night at 6:00 in the first championship game against either Mt Carmel or Salem – the tournament winner will advance to the Little League Section Tournament to be played next week over in Salem
 
(FLORA)  in auto racing news from Saturday night over at the Clay County Speedway north of Flora :
* Sprints  :  Korey Weyent took the checkered flag, followed by Tommy Rockwell & Donald Brackett

(OLNEY)  in Major League Baseball over the weekend – the Cardinals took two from Arizona, while the Cubs, White Sox, & Reds split their games on Saturday & Sunday  :  all four teams are off until after the All-Star Game  :  the Cubs return to play Thursday, the Cardinals & others return to action Friday night
 
(OLNEY)  in auto racing news from the weekend – Robert Ballou led all 30 laps to win last night’s AMSOIL Indiana Sprint Week feature at the Lawrenceburg Speedway – this comes after Hunter Schuerenberg won Saturday night’s ISW feature at Kokomo – Levi Jones finished 10th in last night’s event, after an 11th place finish on Saturday night – the Olney native still leads the National Sprint Car Standings by 31 points, but is out of the top ten in the Indiana Sprint Week standings – the fourth of the seven ISW races will be this Wednesday night in Terre Haute with the “Tony Hulman / Don Smith Classic”
 
(OLNEY)  in summer swimming competition over the weekend – the Olney Tigersharks were at the Centralia Invitational Swim Meet, over in Marion County – Salem finished in first place with 611 points, followed by Herrin with 561.5 points, and then the Tigersharks in third place with 515 points – the remaining teams in order from fourth to eleventh place were Du Quoin (316), Charleston (301), Calvert City, Kentucky (238), Mt Vernon (176), Centralia (156), Marion (93), Anna (80), and McLeansboro (36) – the Tigersharks had seven “first-place” winners in the competition – Olney returns to triangular action tomorrow down in Hamilton County against McLeansboro and Mt Vernon, Indiana

(OLNEY)  in auto racing news – the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car Series opened its 2011 “Indiana Sprint Week” activities last night with the first of seven 30-lap features at the I-69 Speedway in Gas City – it was Dave Darland leading from start to finish, taking the checkered flag – the Lincoln, Indiana native is atop the ISW standings heading into tonight’s second race at the Kokomo Speedway – Olney native, Levi Jones, finished in a distant 14th place, but still leads the New National Sprint Car points standings

(FLORA)  meanwhile, it’s back to track racing tonight at the Clay County Speedway, just north of Flora, along U.S. Route 45 – it’s “hot laps” at 6:30 with racing at 7:30 – plenty of concessions & fun tonight
