(OLNEY)  in Major League Baseball last night – the Cubs won, while the White Sox & Reds both lost – the Cardinals were idle : coming up tonight – the Cardinals begin a three game series at home with Washington – the Cubs again will host the Padres – the White Sox are in Tampa Bay – the Reds will entertain Arizona

(OLNEY)  in high school baseball yesterday – Olney beat Fairfield, 16-7 in seven innings – the Tiger's winning pitcher was Donald Totten, while the top hitter was Michael Fehrenbacher with three hits – now at 12&4 on the year, Olney plans to take their 4&2 Apollo record into action today with the rescheduled Apollo doubleheader at home against Robinson – today's first game at 3:00 at Bill Millpaugh Field

(NEWTON)  in high school softball yesterday – Newton beat Dieterich, 22-0 as the host Lady Eagles outhit the Lady Movin’ Maroons, 15 to none – Samantha Dart was the winning pitcher, throwing the no-hitter for Newton – the Lady Eagles’ top hitters were Hillary Keller with a grand slam home run, a triple, & a single with nine RBI, Mallory Kocher with a double & two RBI, and Nicole Schackmann with two singles & an RBI – Newton improves to 6&7 overall, scheduled to take their 3&3 Apollo record to Salem for two today

(NOBLE)  in high school softball yesterday – Noble / Clay City lost to Wayne City, 3-0 although the Lady Wildcats outhit Wayne City – the top NCC hitters were Katie Royse and Magan Troyer, each with a triple – now at 7&8 on the year, the Lady Wildcats are scheduled to play at Dieterich this afternoon

(OLNEY)  in high school softball – the Cumberland at Olney game was cancelled as Cumberland failed to put the contracted game on their schedule – therefore, no game was played – Olney plays Thursday at home

(OLNEY)  in junior varsity baseball yesterday – Olney shutout Mt Carmel, 10-0 in five innings – in fact Alex Craig threw a no-hitter in his four innings of work – the jv Tigers are now 9&5 on the year
 
(OLNEY)  in Fighting Illini Football news – practice #11 was held this past Saturday morning and with one week of spring ball remaining, practice resumes this morning in Champaign as the Illini prepare for their annual Orange & Blue Spring Game this Saturday at Memorial Stadium with a 1:00 start – while the game and parking is free to the public, up to 300 former Illini players, coaches, & staff will return to campus for the Varsity "I" Association's annual Football BBQ Bash Weekend – before the game, plenty of games & fun for all ages, especially children & their families – all in Champaign this Saturday

(OLNEY)  in Major League Baseball over the weekend, on Saturday & Sunday – the Cardinals, Cubs, and Reds all three split their two games with one loss & one win – the White Sox lost both games : coming up on this Monday night – the Cubs host San Diego at Wrigley Field, the Reds host Pittsburgh, and the White Sox are in Tampa Bay – the Cardinals are idle until tomorrow night when they’re at home with Washington
 
(OLNEY)  in junior college baseball yesterday – Olney Central College swept a GRAC doubleheader from Rend Lake, winning 7-1 and 3-2 – now with eight straight conference wins, the Blue Knights are in a tie for first place with Rend Lake in the GRAC – now at 34&12 on the year and 15&7 in the GRAC, the Blue Knights are on the road to Rend Lake tomorrow with the first of two against the Warriors set for 1:30
 
(OLNEY)  in juinor college softball yesterday – Olney Central College swept two conference games from Rend Lake, 4-3 and 9-0 – OCC's winning pitchers were Sam Tomasino & Mackenzie Thomas – the top OCC hitters were DanYelle Bigham with three hits and three runs scored, Sam Flesch had a home run and three RBI, & Kourtney Crockett with a triple and two runs scored – now at 32&12 overall, the Lady Blue Knights remain in third place in the GRAC with their 21&7 record – Wabash Valley's in 2nd place at 22&4, while Lake Land remains in 1st at 21&3 – the Lady Blue Knights return to action on Wednesday with a non-conference doubleheader at home with Millikin University at Olney Central College
 
(OLNEY)  in auto racing news – for the third straight night, weather forced postponement of AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car racing in Indiana – last night's race at Kokomo Speedway fell victim to extremely wet grounds and was cancelled – however, Saturday night's cancelled race at Lawrenceburg Speedway has now been rescheduled for April 30th, a week from this Saturday – USAC officials are also hopeful of rescheduling Friday's Gas City Race & last night's Kokomo Race as well – the current AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car standings have Levi Jones of Olney in second place, 21 points back of first place

(OLNEY)  in girls high school soccer from over the weekend – the Olney Lady Tigers won one & lost two down at the Harrisburg Tournament – the Lady Tigers are now 1-7-1 on the season – at the tournament :
*  Olney lost their first match to host Harrisburg, 6-nil
*  Olney beat Salem, 2-1 in overtime – goals scored by Devan Tibbs & Heather Boose with assists from Hannah Harrison & Gina Volk
*  Olney lost to Freeburg, 7-nil
*  Lady Tigers’ goalie Alex Kauble had over 30 saves for the weekend – Heather Boose had over 20 shots for the weekend, plus others by Gina Volk, Lexy Grundon, Emily Hustad, Devan Tibbs, & Brittnay Iker
*  both Gina Volk & Heather Boose were named to the All-Tournament Team
the Soccer Lady Tigers return to play this Thursday at home at Musgrove Park in Olney against Harrisburg

(OLNEY)  in Major League Baseball last night – the Cardinals beat the Dodgers with their fifth win in six games – meanwhile the Cubs, White Sox, and Reds all lost : the four series will continue today and end tomorrow with the Cardinals in Los Angeles against the Dodgers, the Cubs in Colorado against the Rockies, the White Sox at home against the LA Angels, and the Reds at home against the Pirates
 
(OLNEY)  in auto racing news – for the second weekend in a row, the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car Races were cancelled because of rain & wet grounds – the USAC Sprint Race & Midwest Ford Focus Race were both scrapped at the I-69 Speedway in Gas City, Indiana – the second of three Indiana weekend races is tonight at the Lawrenceburg Speedway, with the finale tomorrow night at Kokomo - the current standings have Damion Gardner on top with 201 points, while Olney's Levi Jones is 21 points back in second place
 
(OLNEY)  in junior college baseball from this past Thursday – Olney Central College swept a conference doubleheader from Lincoln Trail, winning 7-4 and 4-3 – the Blue Knights improve to 32&12 overall, now 13&7 in the GRAC, now in second place, just two games back of league-leading Rend Lake – the Warriors & Blue Knights are scheduled to play the first of two GRAC doubleheaders today at Conley Field

(OLNEY)  in high school softball yesterday – Olney swept a conference doubleheader from Robinson, winning 6-3 and 3-2 as the Lady Tigers outhit the host Lady Maroons, 16 to 11 – Elizabeth Walker was the winning pitcher in both games, throwing a total of eight & a third innings, allowing five hits, only one earned run, & striking out one – the day's top Olney hitters were Rachel Wisner with three hits, an RBI, & two runs scored, Peyton Stuck with three hits, Elizabeth Walker with two hits, and Kelsey Shipman with two hits & a game winning RBI – the Lady Tigers are now 13&4 on the year, now 5&1 in the Apollo – the Olney ladies are scheduled to host North Knox, Indiana at ERHS tomorrow morning at 10:00
 
(NOBLE)  in high school softball yesterday – Noble / Clay City beat Odin, 5-1 as the Lady Wildcats outhit the Lady Eagles, 7 to 1 – Darcie Hawkins was the winning pitcher, with a complete game one-hitter & nine strikeouts – the top NCC hitters were Katie Royse with an RBI single & Erica Lamb with a double – the Lady Wildcats are now 7&7 on the year and now 2&1 in the MTC – they’ll host Wayne City on Monday

(OLNEY)  in junior college baseball on Tuesday – Olney Central College swept a conference doubleheader at Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, winning 4-1 and 7-4 – with a four-game winning streak, the Blue Knights are 30&12 on the year, now 11&7 in the GRAC, just two games back of 2nd place Logan & three back of league-leading Rend Lake – OCC will host Lincoln Trail in a GRAC doubleheader this afternoon

(NOBLE)  in high school softball yesterday – Noble / Clay City lost to Oblong, 9-1 – the Lady Wildcats' top hitters were Whittney Reynolds with a hit and RBI, and Kaylee Kuenstler with a hit – the Noble / Clay City Lady Wildcats return to action today at West Richland High School hosting Odin

(OLNEY)  in girls high school track from this past Monday – Teutopolis won a seven-team track meet held at East Richland High School, beating Olney by only one point, 73-72 – Mt Carmel finished 3rd with 71 points, followed by Fairfield (55), Flora (52), Lawrenceville (42), & Casey-Westfield (19) – due to the rain that morning, none of the field events took place - here's the Lady Tiger results :
*  Ebany Brumfield won the 200 meter dash
*  Cassie Shipley, Maci Graves, Erina Moore, & Ebany Brumfield won the 400 meter relay
