(OLNEY)  the Richland County Athletic Association’s “A League of Our Own” Ladies Fastpitch Softball is looking for teams for upcoming tournaments scheduled for the end of July thru October in Olney – teams must consist of players age freshmen in high school and older – for details, call Ed at  618-320-9590

 

(OLNEY)  Olney Central College will host a Summer Little League Camp for area youth, ages 6 to 15 – the camp is at OCC’s Dennis Conley Field next Tuesday thru Thursday, June 20th thru 22nd, from 9:00 to 12 noon each morning – the cost is $60 per player and each player should bring their bat, helmet, glove, and shoes – sign up will be at 8:30 next Tuesday morning at the back doors to the OCC Gym on the west side of Olney Central College – all area youth are invited – for details, call Coach Conley at  618-843-0333

 

(OLNEY)  Olney Tiger Basketball Summer Rec Program for boys entering grades 4th, 5th and 6th will run the next several Tuesday and Thursday mornings, from 10:00 to 12:00 noon, starting next week, June 20th, running thru July 13th, in Ron Herrin Gym at RCHS – the cost is only $15 per player – while the general registration was yesterday, contact Coach Rob Flanagan at  618-393-7072  to sign up or for more details

 

(OLNEY)  the Olney Tiger 5K Run and Walk is this morning at 8:00 at the Veteran’s Hall at Richland County High School in Olney – the cost for the 5K is $25 and the price for the one mile fun run is $10 with all proceeds to benefit the girls and boys cross country program at Richland County High School

(OLNEY)  in Major League Baseball – the Cardinals lost again last night
* Milwaukee beat St. Louis, 6-4 as the Brewers took three out of four from the Redbirds
the Cardinals start a six game road trip tonight with the first in Baltimore, against the Orioles

 

(OLNEY) the 2017 IHSA State Bass Fishing Tournament ended yesterday over on Carlyle Lake
there were 66 total schools represented with teams taking part from all of the state
* a team from Buffalo Grove won the tournament with 9 fish weighing in at nearly 13.5 pounds
* Mahomet-Seymour was 2nd, followed by West Frankfort, Farmington, & Moline in the top five
* the Teutopolis team finished 11th overall, while the Woodlawn team ended up in 17th place
* other downstate teams from Crab Orchard, Salem, Benton, Pinckneyville, Nashville, Highland, & Breese

 

(OLNEY)  a note from the City of Olney, that the Musgrove Aquatic Center in Olney is back open today with regular hours – due to contaminant remediation the pool was closed for a while yesterday afternoon and last night – however, it’s all back to normal – the Musgrove Aquatic Center reopens today

the Cardinals are scheduled to finish up their homestand with Milwaukee tonight in St. Louis

 

(OLNEY) the 2017 IHSA State Bass Fishing Tournament will end today on Carlyle Lake in Clinton County
there are several downstate schools represented among the 66 total teams taking part, including
* Teutopolis, Salem, Woodlawn, Crab Orchard, Benton, Nashville, Highland, Breese Mater Dei, and Pana
the boats are scheduled to be on the water fishing until 3:00 this afternoon

(OLNEY)  in Major League Baseball – the Cardinals were split two games with Milwaukee
* The Redbirds won the afternoon part of the double header over the Brewers 6-0
* The Crew got the night cap of the day night double header however, scoring 3 late runs to win, 8-5
The Cardinals will host Milwaukee again today for another big game against a top NL Central ball club.

 

(OLNEY) The IHSA 2017 Bass Fishing State Finals will get underway today and tomorrow.  Boat safety checks on this first day of fishing with fishing scheduled for 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on the first day of the tournament.  Thursday fishing is the normal 7:00 am to 3:00 pm to wrap up the state tournament.  That is the 2017 Bass Fishing State Finals being held this week, coming up on today and tomorrow.

(NEWTON)  The 12th Annual Newton Eagle Football Fish Fry is coming up next week on Friday June 16th from 4:30 until 7:30 at the KC Hall.  Come out and meet the 2017 Eagles and the staff. Music by NCHS Students and a raffle featuring an autographed helmet and football, tickets and cash prizes.  $8 for adults and $4 for children with carry outs available by calling 783-2165.

* The Redbirds had an off day yesterday preparing for four home games with Milwaukee
The Cardinals have a make-up game today as part of a day night double header.

 

(OLNEY)  The Olney Tigersharks competed this past weekend at the Wabash Valley Sharks Invitational
The Tigersharks placed atop the leaderboard with 512.  Fairfield Area Swim Team was 2nd with 342.
* Wabash Valley Sharks 3rd place with 340.  Evansville YMCA Riptide had 240 to place 4th.
* Harrisburg Bullfish totalled 233 to place 5th.  Carmi Bullfrogs placed 6th with 174.
* McLeansboro Sea Otters rounded out the field with 109 points.
The Olney Individual High Point Winners in their respective age groups:
* 7 year old boys: Judah Dicks
* 8 year old girls: Blair Grove
* 8 year old boys: Graham Patterson
* 11 year old girls: Danielle Brown
* 13 year old girls: Jadyn Holubek
* 14 year old girls: Maria Mayorga
* 16 year old boys: Owen Powell
* 17 year old girls: Lauren Eagleson
