JASPER COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD UPDATE (06/18/2024)

(NEWTON) The Jasper County School Board of Education met last night in Newton for its regular monthly meeting in June. The Board : approved the payment of all monthly bills for May as presented : was officially informed that the District has been selected to receive an Energy Transition Community Grant worth $1,567,524 from DCEO (Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity) – with many different eligible uses available for the grant funds, the District will host a special meeting on Monday, July 8th, at 6:00, to seek community input from the public on possible uses of the money : approved an Amended Budget for Fiscal Year 2024 : approved a School Resource Officer Agreement with the Jasper County Board : approved an updated Risk Management Plan for 2024-2025 : approved the Athletic Handbooks for NCHS & JCJH : approved the District’s School Fees & Schedules for the 2024-2025 school year : approved a Technology Lease/Purchase Agreement : and in personnel matters – accepted the retirement of Tammy Bridges at the end of the 2026-2027 school year – approved resignations from District Paraprofessional Libby Collins and from NCHS English Teacher Kristi Scarbrough – hired Andrew Glosser as the new JCJH/NCHS Assistant Principal and JCJH Athletic Director for the 2024-2025 school year – hired Nicole Brown as NCHS Family & Consumer Science Teacher and FCCLA Sponsor for the 2024-2025 school year – agreed to add a stipend for the NCHS Boys/Girls Golf Coach’s position – and renewed contracts and 4% salary increases for NCHS/JCJH Principal Beth Probst, for NES Principal Jessica Guzman, for SME Principal/Special Needs Coordinator Jennifer Bales, and for NES Assistant Principal Ryan Klier, all for the 2024-2025 school year : with the special meeting set for July 8th, the Board’s next regular monthly meeting will be July 15th, 2024.
