OLNEY MAN KILLED IN FATAL MOTORCYCLE/SEMI-TRUCK ACCIDENT

(OLNEY) The investigation is continuing into a fatal traffic wreck that occurred at around 3:42 early yesterday (Tuesday) morning on U.S. Route 50, at the entrance to the Walmart Distribution Center, just west of Olney. The Illinois State Police reports that 25 year old Aaron Hunt from Olney, was traveling east on U.S. Route 50, when a semi-truck driven by 46 year old Loghman Maroufi from Smyrna, Tennessee, was westbound on Route 50, when the semi-truck turned left, onto the DC entrance road, in the path of Hunt’s motorcycle. While Maroufi was not injured in the accident, Hunt was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision. The semi-truck driver was ticketed for failure to yield to oncoming traffic, for failure to yield while turning left, and for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. U.S. Route 50 was closed for nearly three hours for clean up and accident reconstruction. The ISP were assisted at the scene by firemen and police from Olney and Richland County.
