(NOBLE) The investigation continues into the death of a Richland County man at around 10:40 this past Saturday morning in eastern Clay County. Authorities report emergency personnel responded to the area approximately one (1) mile north of Bucktown Lane on Hurricane Creek Road, southwest of Passport, where 65 year old Donald R. Herdes of rural Noble was found unresponsive in a tractor in the ditch. Herdes was transported to Clay County Hospital in Flora, where he was pronounced deceased. Clay County Coronor Bryce Henry says he believes Herdes was traveling north on Hurricane Creek Road when he suffered a natural cause medical event causing him to go unresponsive with the tractor continuing down the road before going off the road, into the ditch, and hitting a powerline pole causing the utility lines to fall on the tractor. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office, EMS, & Clay City and Ingraham firemen responded to the scene. No other details are available.
