(OLNEY)  in Girls High School Hoops last night in the Little Illini Conference – Olney wins on the road
the Lady Tigers won the varsity game at Red Hill, 60-35 as Olney is now 6-1 overall, now 2-0 in the LIC
* Taylor LeCrone led Olney with 17 points and 4 rebounds
* Brittany Black had a double/double with 14 points and 10 rebounds
Olney also won the junior varsity game over Red Hill, 32-24
the Lady Tigers are back in LIC action next Monday night when they travel to Marshall

* Flora beat Lawrenceville, 37-34

(NEWTON)  in Girls High School Hoops last night – Newton swept two non-conference games on the road
the Lady Eagles won the varsity game at Albion, beating Edwards County, 46-35
* Abby Frohning led Newton with 22 points and 9 rebounds
* sophomores Allison Harris and Claire Carr each scored 8 points apiece
Newton won the junior varsity game over Edwards County, 44-23
the Lady Eagles play again this Thursday night when they host Robinson in LIC conference action

* Oblong beat Dieterich, 59-34
* Cowden-Herrick / Beecher City beat Windsor / Stewardson-Strasburg, 58-43
* Carmi beat Fairfield, 48-43

 

(OLNEY)  in Boys High School Wrestling from Saturday’s Lawrenceville Tournament
Mt. Carmel won the eleven team event by beating out 2nd place Olney, 197 to 157
* Robinson finished 3rd just ten points back at 147 – Harrisburg was 4th with 143 points
* then Lawrenceville (123), Anna-Jonesboro (100), Herrin (87), and Carterville (77)
* Fairfield was 9th (67), followed by Carmi (56) and an extra team
Olney had three champions out of the nineteen Tigers that competed in their respective weight classes
* Ean Pottorff won the 145 pound class with three victories
* Kyle Beasley won the 195 pound class with two victories
* Kyle Dowty won the 220 pound class with three victories
Olney had three 2nd place finishers
* Dylan Ritter in the 113 pound class   (2-1)
* Reese Britton in the 126 pound class   (1-1)
* Hunter Summitt in the 170 pound class   (2-1)
Olney had eight others with single wins but no placements in the top four in their weight classes
* Trevor Bower (106), Drew Walters (120), Jarrett Fuson (138), Jonas Burckhartt (138)
* Levi Seitzinger (160), Yunus Tulay (182), Aiden Foster (220), and Skyler Sutton (285)
the Wrestling Tigers are back on the mats tonight as they travel north to Mattoon

the Lady Cubs won the 8th grade game over Mt. Carmel, 41-21 as the varsity remains unbeaten on the year
* Anna Blank led Olney with 15 points, while Kenzie Weiler and Reese Smith combined for 16 points
Olney won the 7th grade game, 25-24
the Lady Cubs are back in action this Friday night when they host Flora in the RCMS Gym

 

(NEWTON)  in Boys Junior High Basketball last night – Newton Jasper County swept two games at home
the Junior Eagles won the 8th grade game over Red Hill, 52-8 as the varsity improves to 5-5 on the year
* Evan Schafer led Newton with 18 points while Adam Koebele scored 11 points
Jasper County won the 7th grade game, 43-15
the Junior Eagles are back in action this Thursday night when they travel to Olney

it’s all non-conference matchups on tap for this Tuesday night
* the Olney Tigers travel to Effingham to battle the Hearts
* the Newton Eagles are on the road to Altamont to take on the Indians
* elsewhere – it’s Robinson at Mt. Carmel
* Paris at Georgetown – Ridge Farm
* Marshall at Tolono Unity
* Lawrenceville at Oblong
* Flora will host Edwards County
* and Casey-Westfield at Cumberland

 

(OLNEY)  in Women’s Junior College Basketball tonight – a few of the GRAC teams are in action
it’s all non-conference play scheduled for this Tuesday night
* the OCC Lady Knights will host Danville Area Community College in “The Dungeon” at 5:30
* elsewhere – it’s John A. Logan at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Missouri
* and Shawnee Community College plays at Missouri Baptist College
there are no Men’s Junior College teams in action tonight
