(OLNEY)  in boys high school basketball last night  :  Olney dropped a pair of games at Robinson  :  the Tigers lost the varsity game, 40-37 – for Olney, Michael Fehrenbacher had 21 points & Brook Pampe had 13 points – now at 22&4, the Tigers drop to 9&2 in the Apollo  :  Robinson also won the junior varsity game, 35-19  :  Olney returns to Apollo play Friday night with a trip to Baker Gym at Charleston

 

(NEWTON)  in boys high school basketball last night – Newton split a pair of games at Effingham  :  the Eagles won the varsity game, 58-49 led by Peyton Wyatt’s 29 points & Dylan Davidson’s 9 points – the Eagles improve to 20&4 overall, now 7&4 in the Apollo  :  Effingham won the junior varsity game, 54-42  :  the Eagles return to Apollo Conference action this Friday night as they take their final trip to Mt Zion

(OLNEY)  in the downstate Boys 8th Grade Class M State Tournament last night at Rend Lake College  :
* in semi-final action  :  Okawville beat Wayne City, 57-23  :  Aviston beat Goreville, 50-37
* the 3rd place game and championship game will be played this Friday night

 

(NEWTON)  the IESA Boys 8th Grade Sectionals are tonight – here’s some area team matchups  :
* Class 1A @ Effingham  :  Palestine plays Chrisman Scottland
* Class 1A @ Beecher City  :  Mulberry Grove plays Beecher City

* Class 2A @ Eldorado  :  Mt Carmel & Eldorado  :  Fairfield & Hamilton County
* Class 1A @ Effingham  :  Dieterich & Cowden-Herrick / Beecher City  :  Altamont & Central A & M
* Class 1A @ Wayne City  :  Galatia & Christ Our Rock Lutheran  :  Woodlawn & Wayne City

 all of the regional championships will be played tomorrow night at their respective sites

 

(OLNEY)  it’s back to a full schedule tonight in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference  :
* the OCC teams are on the road to Lake Land with the Lady Knights at 5:30 and Blue Knights at 7:30
* the Kaskaskia teams travel to Belleville to play at Southwestern Illinois
* the Wabash Valley teams are on the road to Rend Lake College, down near Ina
* and John A Logan will host the Lincoln Trail teams, down in Carterville

(OLNEY)  the OCC Lady Blue Knights softball team will host a Softball Clinic this Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 in the OCC Gym – it’s a total skills camp for girls ages 6 to 12 at the cost of $30 per player, due that afternoon – bring softball gloves, bats, & tennis shoes – to signup, call OCC at 618-395-7777


 
(OLNEY)  the OCC Blue Knights baseball team will host a Little League Camp this Saturday morning from 9:00 to 12 noon in the OCC Gym – it’s a total skills camp for those ages 6 to 12 at the cost of $50 per player – bring baseball gloves & bats – pre-registration is required by calling OCC at 618-395-7777
