YESTERDAY’S ILLINOIS CROP PROGRESS REPORT (06/11/2024)

(SPRINGFIELD) In yesterday’s USDA Illinois Crop Progress Report, there were 4.7 days suitable for fieldwork on average last week around the state. Illinois’ average temperature was 71.6 degrees last week, 2.4 degrees above normal. The statewide precipitation averaged 0.66 inches last week, 0.23 inches below normal. As of Sunday, corn planted reached 93%, compared to the 5-year average of 92% with the statewide corn condition rated 74% good to excellent. Soybeans planted was at 87%, compared to the 5-year average of 84% with the statewide bean crop condition rated 69% good to excellent. Winter wheat harvested for grain around the state was at 6%, compared to the 5-year average of 1% with the winter wheat condition rated at 77% good to excellent. Farmers are reminded to think “safety first” as the local wheat harvest is underway and with hot weather expected in the days ahead.
