YESTERDAY’S USDA ILLINOIS CROP PROGRESS REPORT

(SPRINGFIELD) In yesterday’s USDA Illinois Crop Progress Report, there were 5.4 days suitable for fieldwork around Illinois last week on average. The state’s average temperature was 76.1 degrees last week, 1.8 degrees above normal. Illinois’ precipitation averaged 1.07 inches last week, 0.13 inches above normal. As of Sunday, corn silking around the state was at 17%, compared to the 5-year average of 3% and the corn condition was rated 10% poor to very poor, 25% fair, 53% good, and 12% excellent. Soybeans blooming as of Sunday around the state was at 25%, compared to the 5-year average of 10% and soybeans setting pods was at 1%. Soybeans condition was rated 9% poor to very poor, 27% fair, 56% good, and 8% excellent. Winter wheat harvested for grain reached 89%, compared to the 5-year average of 68%.
