2 BUSINESSES IN WAYNE COUNTY TICKETED FOR SELLING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES TO MINORS IN COUNTERMEASURE ENFORCEMENT

(EFFINGHAM) The Illinois State Police (ISP) Zone 8 has announced the recent results of Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement surveillance at various establishments in Wayne County earlier this month. The details were conducted to determine which businesses may be selling alcoholic beverages to minors, those persons under 21 years old. The ultimate goals are to enforce underage drinking laws and to in turn, save lives by preventing impairing driving crashes and/or fatalities. Of the nine total locations surveilled in Wayne County, the following two establishments were involved in the sale of alcoholic beverages to a minor : Midtown Package Liquors in Fairfield and Mike’s Package Liquor in Wayne City. The respective employees at each of these establishments were cited for Unlawful Delivery of Alcoholic Liquor to a Minor, a Class A misdemeanor, all of which are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. The project was funded through IDOT.
