(MT. VERNON) A Tazewell County farmer took home the first place plaque from the 2025 Wheat Yield Contest hosted by the Illinois Wheat Association as long-time farmer Wendell Good raised an impressive 147 bushels per acre on a no-till field. Taking second place was Zac Weidner in Macoupin County with 142 bushels per acre, also on a no-till field, and in third place was David Justison of Montgomery County with 141 bushels per acre on a normal tilled field. IWA officials say Illinois saw good yields this year despite some weather issues and challenges in southern Illinois. For more yield results, go to the iwa.org website.
