(OAK BROOK) Former State Senator & State Representative Darren Bailey made it official yesterday, that he is making a second run for Illinois governor. After public stops during the day in Carterville and Bloomington, Bailey attended an event last night in Oak Brook. Bailey said his campaign is about taxes, opportunity, and affordability. While Bailey won the 2022 Republican primary, he lost to Governor Pritzker in the general election. Bailey joins a 2026 field that includes three other men.
(SPRINGFIELD) According to data released yesterday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Illinois Department of Employment Security, Illinois lost 9,900 nonfarm jobs in the year ending August 2025. The state’s joblessness rate went from 5.3% in August a year ago down to 4.7% last month.
(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Department of Revenue is urging taxpayers to take advantage of the 2025 Illinois Tax Amnesty Program, which allows payment of eligible past-due tax liabilities and have penalties and interest forgiven on taxes paid in full during the amnesty period. Eligible liabilities are taxes due from periods ending after June 30th, 2018 and prior to July 1st, 2024. Taxpayers must make full payments October 1st thru November 17th, 2025.
(CHICAGO) A new study released yesterday shows that Illinois is the most dangerous in the nation for nursing home safety violations. The statewide research found that Illinois had 2,300 penalties among its 682 certified nursing facilities. The numbers also show total fines reached $78.4 million for an average of at least $115,000 per facility.
