(EFFINGHAM) in Boys High School Golf yesterday –
there were eight teams competing at the Class 2A Regional at Effingham
the Olney Tigers tied the host Hearts for second place, each with a 302 total score
Effingham St. Anthony won the regional with a low round total of 291
Mt. Zion was fourth at 303, Charleston & Red Hill/Lawrenceville tied for sixth at 326
Paris was seventh at 366 and Mattoon finished with a 398
so the Tigers will advance as a team to the 2A Sectional next Monday
Olney was led by the Regional Match Medalist, Ayden Nealis, with a low round 70
the next ten players will advance to the Sectional individually
including those from Mt. Zion, Charleston, and Red Hill/Lawrenceville
Olney’s Reese Glover and Dierks Mitchell tied for eighth place, each with a 75
other Tigers were Carsyn Ameter (82), Giuseppe Trupiano (96), & Carter Blank (97)
players advance to the Class 2A Sectional hosted by Highland next Monday
it will be played at the Oak Brook Golf Club in Edwardsville

(MCLEANSBORO) in Boys High School Golf yesterday –
there were twelve teams at the Class 1A Regional at Mt. Vernon
Teutopolis won with a 23 stroke victory over second place Mt. Carmel, 292 to 315
Hamilton County was a stroke back in third place at 316
the Newton Eagles were fourth at 326 just ahead of Edwards County at 327
then Carmi (331), NCOE (340), Robinson (346), Fairfield (347), Oblong (347),
along with Flora (360) and Dieterich (382)
Newton will have all three of its golfers advancing to Monday’s Section
Michael Kennedy was third, followed by Jackson James and Nolen Cleaver
the Class 1A Sectional will be hosted by Teutopolis
it will be played at the Effingham Country Club
