(NEWTON) in High School Cross Country yesterday –
Newton hosted five other teams at Sam Parr State Park
BOYS
Olney won the boys race by beating out Newton, 29 to 42
Effingham was third followed by Clay City/Flora, Oblong, & Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City
there were 36 total runners in the boys race
Olney’s Quaid Berger won it by finishing 1st, followed by teammate Judah Dicks 2nd
Olney’s Landon Livingston was 4th
Newton’s Hayden Borgic, Johnnie Brant, and Tanner Whitaker were 5th, 6th, and 7th
Newton’s Alec Bower was 9th and Olney’s Nathaniel Zwilling was 10th
GIRLS
Newton won by beating out second place Effingham, 15 to 48
Oblong was third and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was fourth
there were 18 total runners in the girls race
Newton was led by Heather Bergbower winning the race in 1st place
teammates Avery Geier, Nora Street, Josie Vogt, & Kim Bierman were 2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th
Newton’s Lily Yager, Shay Bennett, and Layna Marshall were 8th, 9th, and 10th
Newton is scheduled to run tomorrow at the Cumberland Invitational
to be hosted by Lake Land College, south of Mattoon
Olney is scheduled to run next at the LIC Conference Meet next Tuesday
