(OLNEY) The Richland County Board met last night in Olney for its regular monthly meeting in October. The Board : approved all bills for September – $465,535 for non-county claims and $119,839 for county general claims : approved a tentative fiscal year 2026 budget, which will now lay over for 30 days for public viewing : reviewed the 2026 tax levy, however tabled any action until November : discussed and then agreed to renew the county’s annual insurance coverage with Snedeker Risk Management : approved the Highway Department’s plan to crush the county’s 3,000 tons of used asphalt to use as a base along the shoulders of the Ste. Marie Road from U.S. Route 50 to the Richland/Jasper County line at a cost not to exceed $30,000 – IDOT will open bids in April of 2026 for the project to widen the Ste. Marie Road with a asphalt shoulder project next year : heard an update of the infrastructure work begin done for the countywide emergency radio project : approved a three year contract for GIS Imagery maps for Richland County : approved culvert aid petitions for both Decker and Noble Townships : approved the Special Prosecutor’s resolution for the next year : heard from the public concerning local mental health issues in Richland County : and took no action, other than to adjourn, after an executive session to discuss labor negotiations and real estate : the Richland County Board will have its next regular meeting November 13th.
