(OLNEY) The Olney City Council met in regular session last night. The Council : approved the payment of all bills as presented : accepted the quote to purchase light fixtures for the Tennis Court Complex in the Olney City Park : agreed to amend the 2025-2026 budgets for the Parks & Cemetery Department and Street Department : on a 3 to 2 vote approved a resolution to place an advisory question on the March 2026 primary election ballot, asking the residents of Olney if the City of Olney should allow cannabis dispensaries within the city limits : approved the list of fishing tournaments and boat permit requirement waivers for the Richland County High School Bass Team for 2026 : approved the permit to allow dog behavior training classes to be held in Olney’s City Park or Recreation Areas : approved the yearly renewal for insurance coverage for the City of Olney, including liability, property, workers compensation, auto, and miscellaneous : approved the consideration of a soccer field complex near Olney Central College : approved an amendment to the contract for the sale of real estate : and after an executive session, agreed to hire Darren Harmon as the full time Fire Chief for the City of Olney : the next regularly scheduled Olney City Council meeting is set for Monday night, October 27th, 2025.
