(SPRINGFIELD) If the federal government shutdown continues past November 1st, at least 1.9 people in Illinois will lose their food assistance. The Illinois Department of Human Services announced federal officials informed all states this week that it will not fund Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits past that Saturday, two weeks from tomorrow, if the government shutdown, now in week three, continues.

(SPRINGFIELD) A new study reveals that Illinois has the third-highest rate of teenager abortions in America. The research conducted by the Birth Injury Lawyers Group analyzed teen abortion data from 2018 to 2022 for each U.S. state via the CDC’s Abortion Surveillance Reports. Illinois ranks third in the nation with 454 abortions per 100,000 teenagers between the ages of 15 and 19, surpassing the national average of 222 by approximately 105 percent.

(CHICAGO) Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzer and the First Lady of Illinois have released their tax information. The Chicago Tribune reported the Pritzkers paid about $1.6 million in federal taxes and about $500,000 in state income taxes from more than $10 million of income in 2024, including $1.4 million from gambling. The Governor told reporters yesterday that he likes to play cards and got lucky on a trip to Las Vegas.
