(SPRINGFIELD) Following six missed reports, the USDA has released the first Crop Progress Report since the government shutdown ended. As of this past Sunday, 95% of the soybean crop across the top 18 bean-growing states has been harvested, just behind the five-year average of 96% and further behind last year’s 98%. The nation’s corn crop in the same states was 91% harvested, behind the 94% five-year average and the 98% harvest a year ago. The report also notes that 92% of the intended acreage has been sown to winter wheat in the same 18 states. At last check in Illinois, 100% of the corn and nearly 99% of the soybeans have been harvested.
