(OLNEY) The Richland County School Board of Education met in special session last night in Olney. The Board : agreed to expel a student for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year and for the first semester of the 2026-2027 school year – the student will be referred to an alternative school and the student may return on Principal’s Probation the first semester of the 2026-2027 school year if he or she completes 20 hours of approved counseling, passes the hair follicle drug test, and follows all rules while attending an alternative school : agreed to terminate a RCCU1 District Support Staff Member, effective immediately : and was presented with firm proposals from Straight Up Solar for both RCMS and RCHS with financing options discussed and a likely vote on the solar project at the next regular monthly meeting of the Board : that next regular monthly meeting is this coming Thursday night, December 18th, at Richland County High School in Olney, starting at 6:00.
