(BLOOMINGTON) Grain reports from the USDA next month could carry more weight in the markets than in recent years, following the fall government shutdown that delayed market access to crop data. Joe Janzen, University of Illinois Extension Specialist in Ag Economics, says the markets have some uncertainties about crop size and demand as compared to years past. The January world agricultural supply and demand estimates will include final production numbers for the U.S. and the grain stocks report will show the amount of post-harvest corn and soybean stocks held both on and off farms. Both reports are scheduled to be released January 12th, 2026.
