(SPRINGFIELD) Several initiatives spearheaded by the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office will take effect in the new year, beginning this Thursday. One such program promotes road safety and DMV modernization, while another will enhance library security around the state. (SPRINGFIELD) It was yesterday that the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity released data highlighting record-breaking economic development milestones from 2025. Illinois reached a record $13 billion in incentivized investments, delivered record tourism accomplishments, and marked major milestones in key sectors, including quantum, while making continued investments in small businesses and workforce development around the state. (SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois State Police, along with IDOT and local law enforcement agencies throughout the state, are joining forces again to increase patrols focused on impaired drivers with hopes of ringing in the new year of 2026 with traffic safety at the forefront. From today through next Monday, there will be saturation patrols, roadside safety checks, and other special patrols looking for those driving impaired by alcohol and/or drugs, for those speeding, for those texting while driving, for those not buckled up, and for those violating other rules of the road.
