(SPRINGFIELD) Illinois is one of five states suing the federal government over a freeze of more than $10 billion in funding for child care and welfare programs. Filed last Friday, the lawsuit seeks to block the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services from withholding money from Illinois, New York, California, Colorado, and Minnesota amid ongoing federal scrutiny into child care programs. Nearly $1 billion is being frozen for the Land of Lincoln.
(SPRINGFIELD) Site Selection Magazine has named Illinois one of the top states in the nation for Workforce Development, but no where near the top for Business Climate or manufacturing. Surveying at least thirty national site consultants around the country, the report listed Texas with the most votes for Best Business Climate in America and the best state for manufacturing projects. Illinois was third best in the nation for workforce development.
(CHAMPAIGN) University of Illinois System President Tim Killeen says he is stepping down at the end of this current contract on June 30th, 2027. Killeen informed the Board of Trustees that he would be leaving his position, which he has held since 2015. Officials with the University of Illinois Board of Trustees say the search for Killeen’s replacement will begin in February.
