(SPRINGFIELD) Illinois is one of four states suing the federal government over the Office of Management & Budget’s directive to cut more than $600 million in Centers for Disease Control & Prevention grants. The Illinois Attorney General’s office and attorneys general from Colorado, California, and Minnesota say in their complaint that the funding cuts to public health infrastructure would be devastating and are based on disagreements about unrelated topics such as federal immigration enforcement, political protest, and clean energy.

(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois EPA’s Office of Energy is offering $7 million in grant funding to strengthen energy resilience at publicly-owned wastewater treatment plants. Ranging from $200,000 to $2 million, the individual awards requires a match of either 25% or 50% based on population served and geographic location. The Resilient Energy for Wastewater Infrastructure grants provide funding to assess energy vulnerabilities and implement solar energy systems.

(SPRINGFIELD) Financial institutions that process five or more liens annually will be required to transition to electronic lien and titling by July 1st this year. The Illinois Secretary of State’s office says that under the ELT process, while the lien and title records are transmitted directly to it, the records are maintained electronically until the lien is satisfied. Banks, credit unions, and dealers can then instantly release the title when a loan is paid off, reducing costs & saving time.

(SPRINGFIELD) Tickets go on sale today for two new acts scheduled to perform at this year’s Illinois State Fair in Springfield. Country music performer and Illinois native Bailey Zimmerman will be on the Grandstand Stage Friday, August 14th, which is Ag Day on the Fairgrounds. Then it’s Matchbox Twenty on stage Sunday, August 16th. The tickets for both shows go on sale this Friday morning at 10:00 at ticketmaster.com. The performance additions join Lainey Wilson and Ella Langley as grandstand shows at the Fair, which runs August 13th through the 23rd.
