(NEWTON/OLNEY) The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement for our entire listening area, noting that there are elevated conditions for wildfire growth and spread on this Tuesday. With the strong southerly winds expected to develop by later today, gusting between 30 and 35 miles-per-hour, mixing up with very low relative humidity levels in the 30 to 35 percent range, the extremely dry ground conditions across our downstate area will all add to the elevated risk for wildfire or brushfire growth and spread for any fires that get started. As a result, everyone is encouraged to exercise extra caution today by avoiding actions that could lead to fire starts. Area residents are urged to not burn anything today, whether trash, grass, or brush.
