NEWS FROM AROUND ILLINOIS

(SPRINGFIELD) State Representative Adam Niemerg and other downstate Republicans are calling out what they believe are the misplaced priorities of Democrats in the General Assembly as they continue to file and pass policies that seem to hurt statewide families instead of helping them. Of the over 500 bills that have passed out of committee so far in the spring legislative session, nearly 9 out of every 10 have been Democrat-sponsored bills. Here’s a few those :

  • HB 5284 would expand access to hormone treatments for minors
  • HB 4839 removes the requirement for a fetal death certificate for those that die before 20 weeks
  • HB 4459 would add a new statewide tax on all backyard fire pits, campfires, and more
  • HB 4714 would create a Governor-appointed group to collect data on statewide school children
  • HB 4255 would expand Illinois’ current ban on certain traveling animal acts and circuses

Look for plenty of debate and party line approvement of these and many other bills in Springfield.

(SPRINGFIELD) Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul yesterday requested an additional $15 million for FY27, telling the Senate Appropriations Committee that his office generated just over $21 in revenue for every taxpayer dollar the office received for operations over the last seven years. Raoul had no comment after asked if it is a good investment of taxpayer dollars when most of his cases have been against the Trump administration and most have been thrown out.
