(SPRINGFIELD) Following feedback on data analysis and collection challenges at USDA, the department has announced that it plans to survey more farmers for some of its key reports in the near future. The USDA faced criticism over its data after making significant increases in January to corn acreage estimates for the 2025 crop and the response rate received for USDA’s March 31st plantings report dropped to its lowest on record. Pending approval from the U.S. Office of Management & Budget, the USDA wants to increase the sample size of farmers surveyed for its June 30th acreage report by 35% and by 10% for reports in September, December, and March.
