(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Farm Bureau is urging the U.S. Senate to quickly pass the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 as the U.S. House approved the bill by a vote of 224 to 200 late last week in Washington, D.C. After three years of extensions of the 2018 Farm Bill, it’s been eight years since a Farm Bill has been approved in the U.S. House. The new legislation updates funding levels for crop insurance and price support, along with disaster assistance, risk management programs, operation and marketing loans, and federal agricultural research. The U.S. Senate could start discussions on the newly proposed Farm Bill as early as this week.
