(SPRINGFIELD) Four people from California are charged in connection with a conspiracy to burglarize pharmacies and distribute controlled substances in downstate Illinois and across the nation. The defendants are accused of burglarizing pharmacies in Neoga, Breese, Lebanon, Bethalto, and Maryville in July of 2024. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Illinois said three of the four defendants are in custody while the other remains at large.
(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Attorney General’s Office says it is pleased that a federal court has announced it will approve a $700 million settlement in a multi-state antitrust lawsuit against Google. Illinois was one of 53 attorney general offices in 2021 who sued Google for illegally dominating Android app distribution and for charging consumers up to 30% per transaction.
(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Department of Health says 10 of 11 coverage rates for school-required childhood immunizations have risen compared to last year. According to the IDPH’s School Vaccination Coverage Dashboard, the exception is hepatitis B, which was three-tenths of a percentage point (0.03%) lower than a year earlier, while almost all of the statewide childhood immunization rates are above 95%. The dashboard used data provided to the Illinois State Board of Education by pre-K through 12 grade schools and school districts throughout Illinois.
(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois State Fair 100 Days Out event is slated for today, this Tuesday, from 10:30 this morning until 2:30 this afternoon at the Reisch Pavilion on the state fairgrounds in Springfield. While parking and admission is free today, food and drinks will be available for purchase from various fair vendors. The Illinois State Fair will run August 13th through the 23rd.
