(OLNEY) The Olney City Council met in regular session last night with a very heavy agenda and a lot of action taken. The Council : approved the payment of all bills as presented : accepted the $192,232 quote from ACI Commerical Roofers for roof repairs at Pacific Cycle : accepted the $49,291 quote from Ford Square in Mt. Vernon for a new Ford Interceptor Police Squad Car : accepted the $38,000 quote for a used 2019 3/4–ton pickup truck from Expressway GMC in Mt. Vernon, Indiana for the Olney Fire Department : agreed to donate a 2015 1/2–ton pickup truck from the Olney Fire Department to the Noble Fire Department : agreed to allow the Olney VFW to take Buddy Poppy donations from 10:00 to 2:00 this Saturday at the intersection of Main and East Streets in Olney : approved an ordinance to close a portion of the east/west alley between East Laurel & East Butler Streets and between North Jefferson & North Lincoln Streets : agreed to buy three riding mowers for the Park Department from Stanley Mower & Repair : accepted bids from Travis Excavating to demolish to properties – $7,400 for 633 North Morgan Street and $7,298 for 208 North Boone Street : approved the MFT road & street maintenance program for the City of Olney : approved the preliminary engineering services for street renovation work on portions of Monroe, Glenwood, South Morgan, and in the Eastgate Subdivision : on a 3 to 2 vote, approved an ordinance to amend a section of the City’s Municipal Code to allow the sale of fireworks within the City of Olney : approved a $112,091 change order for the North Avenue Waterline Replacement project : approved an agreement to remove a house trailer, demolish a shed, and cleanup debris at 918 & 920 West Main Street, the property just west of CVS in Olney : and heard updates on the Elliott Street & East Street bridge projects, the East Scott Street storm sewer project, and more : the next regular Olney City Council meeting is Tuesday, May 26th, due to Monday, May 25th’s observance of Memorial Day 2026.
