(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Republican Party has elected a new leader. It’s former DuPage County Auditor Bob Grogan, who said yesterday that he is honored and humbled to be the next chair for the state GOP. It was this past Monday that the Republican State Central Committee elected Grogan over incumbent chair Kathy Salvi. It was last month in April that the Illinois Democrats reelected State Representative Lisa Hernandez of Cicero as the State Party Chair.
(SPRINGFIELD) Legislation has been filed in the Illinois House of Representatives this week aimed at making the vehicle registration process more efficient and accessible for Illinois residents. House Bill 5767 would require the Secretary of State’s Office to provide residents the option to renew a two-year registration sticker online, just as they can currently do in person. With bipartisan support expected, the measure is currently awaiting a vote in the State House.
(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois State Fair has announced it is bringing Reggae performer Ziggy Marley to the Grandstand to perform on Tuesday night, August 18th, in Springfield. Tickets for the show go on sale this coming Saturday morning at 10:00 at Ticketmaster.com. The Illinois State Fair is scheduled for August 13th thru the 23rd. (SPRINGFIELD) A prayer gathering titled “One Nation Under God” is scheduled from 12 noon to 1:30 this Wednesday afternoon at the Illinois Capitol Complex Visitors Center. Sponsored by Republican Senators, co-sponsors include the Illinois Prayer Caucus Network and the Illinois Family Institute. While open to the public, many downstate lawmakers will be in attendance.
