(NEWTON) Congratulations to Jasper County Board Chairman Jason Warfel who has been recently selected as a member of the 2026 class of Edgar Fellows, a prestigious statewide leadership initiative that brings together emerging leaders from throughout Illinois. Warfel is one of only forty (40) individuals selected from approximately 140 nominees statewide for the highly competitive program as candidates were chosen by a committee representing the public, private, and academic sectors after an extensive evaluation process. Founded to help prepare Illinois’ next generation of leaders through bipartisan collaboration, executive training, and networking opportunities, the Edgar Fellows Program will be held August 2nd through the 6th in Urbana-Champaign. Those chosen will engage with experienced public officials, scholars, researchers, and leaders from throughout Illinois to discuss leadership strategies and the future of the state.
(OLNEY) The City of Olney has announced a partial road closure at the east edge of town due to the beginning of the Main Street Improvement Project. The exit lane from Main Street onto U.S. Route 50 is currently closed, however the exit lane from Route 50 onto Main Street is open. With this in mind, eastbound drivers wanting to access Route 50 from Main Street should travel south on Holly Road and use the Route 50 intersection there. Drivers, as always, should pay attention to the posted barricades and/or signs in this east edge of Olney area. Cooperation is appreciated.
