(OLNEY/NEWTON/NOBLE) A reminder that most all city and village halls in the area are closed today, in observance of Memorial Day 2026. All of the village and city halls will be back open tomorrow with normal office hours. In addition, in Olney, the brush dump will also be closed today, but back open this coming weekend. And Republic Services will be hauling trash as normal today and all of this week on the normal schedule with no delays due to the holiday.
(OLNEY/NOBLE) In meetings coming up this week :
- the Olney City Council meets tomorrow night at 6:00 at the Olney City Hall.
- the Noble Village Board meets tomorrow night at 7:00 at Village Hall in Noble.
- the Jasper County Board meets Thursday night at 6:00 in Newton.
All of these meetings are open to the public with the exception of any executive sessions.
(FLORA) Clay County’s Fifth Annual Masonic Lodge Auction to benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children will be this coming Saturday, May 30th, starting at 10:00 that morning, on the County Fairgrounds in Charley Brown Park, at the west edge of Flora. While everyone is welcome to help make the annual fundraising auction a success, area homeowners are urged to donate items such as cars or trucks, boats, three-and-four wheelers, and trailers, all with clean titles required and all within a 50 mile radius of Flora for pickup. All proceeds from the annual auction go straight to Shriners Hospitals for Children to help out those in need.
(OLNEY) A reminder about the Memorial Day observance in Olney on this Monday. The Parade Line Up begins at 10:30 this morning at the Olney VFW Post, with the Parade starting at 10:45, moving northward on Walnut Street to Haven Hill Cemetery, where the Memorial Day Ceremony will begin at 11:00, involving several individuals and groups. All are urge to bring their family and friends to this or any of the many other area Memorial Day programs today.
