IESA GIRLS JUNIOR HIGH BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT ACTION FROM THE WEEKEND

(NEWTON) In Girls Junior High Basketball from this past Saturday, the IESA 8th Grade State Tournaments began with first round and semi-final action.

Here’s some results involving downstate area teams:

CLASS 1A

  • Sigel St. Michael’s beat Ottawa Wallace in a first round game, 44-25
  • The Sharpshooters then won their semi-final game over Carrollton St. John, 30-24
  • Sigel St. Michael’s will play Washington St. Patrick for the 1A State Title tonight
  • Both teams are undefeated at 23-0 and 25-0 respectively heading into tonight’s game

CLASS 2A

  • Paris Crestwood won its first round game over Serena, 44-8
  • The Lady Eagles then lost to Havana in semi-final action, 39-25
  • Paris Crestwood, at 22-3, will play Armstrong-Ellis, at 21-1, for Third Place tonight

CLASS 3A

  • Teutopolis lost its first round game to Pittsfield Pikeland, 42-19
  • The Junior Wooden Shoes finish up the year with a record at 18-7

CLASS 4A

  • Mt. Zion beat Granite City Coolidge in a first round game, 43-29
  • The Junior Lady Braves then won their semi-final game over Mahomet-Seymour, 36-14

Mt. Zion, now at 26-3, will play Dunlap, at 24-5, for the 4A State Title tonight.
