YESTERDAY’S USDA ILLINOIS CROP PRODUCTION REPORT FOR ILLINOIS

(SPRINGFIELD) In yesterday’s USDA Illinois Crop Progress Report, there were 6.8 days suitable for fieldwork on average around the state last week. While the statewide average temperature was 69.1 degrees last week, 0.8 degrees above normal, Illinois’ precipitation averaged 0.25 inches last week around the state, 0.54 inches below normal. As of Sunday, corn denting was at 93% (compared to the 5-year average of 84%), mature corn was at 63% (compared to the 5-year average of 40%), and corn harvested hit 7% (compared to the 5-year average of 3%). Soybeans dropping leaves as of Sunday was at 62% (compared to the 5-year average of 31%) and soybeans harvested was at 6% (compared to the 5-year average of 1%). The crop conditions are still mostly good to excellent throughout Illinois, 77% for corn and 72% for soybeans. All farmers & workers are reminded “safety first” during this fall harvest.
