(BLOOMINGTON) As we move into the final quarter of the year, cash rent negotiations are being conducted for 2025. The University of Illinois Extension says that while most contracts will not be signed until after harvest, people are approaching the topic earlier this year. While record high land values are beginning to soften, officials believe that does not necessarily mean cash rents will follow, which are mostly determined on a case-by-case basis. Negotiating cash rents is one of many topics on the agenda for the Farmland Owners Conference, co-sponsored by the Illinois Farm Bureau, set for November nd, at Illinois Valley Community College, in Oglesby. The speakers and topics lined up are also beneficial for farmers who are tenants, as well as family members of the farmers and/or landowners.
