(SPRINGFIELD) A public hearing will be held later this month to consider and receive public comments on a new Wheat Development Program proposed by the Illinois Wheat Association, all to be hosted by the WDP Committee, which is comprised of appointed farmers, agribusiness professionals, and IWA Board members. The proposed program aims to create and maintain a voluntary wheat checkoff program in Illinois with an interest in appointing a farmer led board of directors to help expand wheat research, develop best practices, and increase yields in the state. The public hearing will be held next Tuesday, November 12th, at the State Department of Agriculture John Block Building in Springfield, starting at 1:00.
