(SPRINGFIELD) In last week’s USDA Illinois Crop Production Report : the updated planted area for corn is estimated at 10.8 million acres, down 4% from last year, while the harvested area for corn is also down 4% from 2023 – based on November 1st conditions, the state corn yield forecast is at 218 bushels per acre, up 12 bushels from a year ago, with production up 2% from last year : the planted area for soybeans is estimated at 10.8 million acres, up 4% from last year with the harvested area also up 4% from 2023 numbers – based on November 1st conditions, the state soybean yield is forecast at 65 bushels per acre, up 2 bushels an acre from 2023 with statewide soybean production up 8% from a year ago.
