SHOTS FIRED AT ONCOMING TRAFFIC IN EFFINGHAM COUNTY – NO INJURIES

(EFFINGHAM) The Illinois State Police Troop 9, based in Effingham, is reporting that no one was injured following an incident that occurred at shortly after 3:00 this past Sunday where shots were fired at oncoming traffic on Interstate 70 in Effingham County. The State Police reports that a unidentified suspect fired a weapon at traffic in the eastbound lane and that the person was taken into custody without incident. However, no vehicles have reported damage and there were no personal injuries to those traveling at the time. The incident occurred about three miles east of the I-57/I-70 intersection, east of Effingham.
