The Newton City Council held a meeting earlier this month where several important decisions were made. The Council approved the annual Tax Levy as presented and authorized a one-year contract with Luminare Health Benefits to administer the City of Newton’s medical and dental benefit plans.
In a 3-2 vote, the Council accepted a $3,002 bid from Seth Yager for the city’s 2012 Dodge Durango. The Council also authorized the Abatement Certificate for the city’s Aquatic Center facility and approved sending a Newton Police Department employee to a TASER Instructor Certification Course next week.
Additionally, the Council approved the $3,700 expenditure to purchase a storage container, including delivery, for the City’s Electric Department. Following a closed session, the Council approved a three-year Energy & Capacity Power Purchasing Agreement, which will run from June 1, 2025, through May 31, 2028.
The next regular meeting of the Newton City Council will be held on Tuesday, December 17th, at City Hall.
