(SPRINGFIELD) As the new 104th General Assembly was sworn in yesterday, Governor J.B. Pritzker held a news conference after attending the inauguration of the new State Senate in Springfield. While the Governor listed some of his priorities for fiscal year 2025, he did vow to protect noncitizen immigrants, those who are in Illinois illegally, after President-elect Donald Trump takes office, but he said felons should be evicted from the state and nation.
(SPRINGFIELD) More than 300 personalized and vanity license plate requests in Illinois were rejected from last year. The Illinois Secretary of State’s Office says that of the over 60,000 requests, 335 were denied because of their inflammatory or offensive nature, or because they were difficult to read, which could pose problems for law enforcement.
(CHICAGO) Wildlife authorities up in DuPage County have confirmed that a bald eagle recently found and rescued in Oakbrook, by a Chicago conservation group, has been euthanized. Officials at the DuPage Wildlife Conservation Center determined that the eagle was demonstrating strong signs of avian flu and chose to put it down. This coming just days after a man died in Louisiana due to what healthcare officials say was bird flu.
(CHICAGO) The Chicago Bears say they are committed to breaking new ground on a new stadium sometime this year. While the team would prefer the stadium be located in the Windy City, the possibility of building in Arlington Heights or elsewhere has not been ruled out. Last year, the Bears unveiled plans for a new lakefront stadium, but have faced challenges in getting public funding. Despite recent improvements, the Bears current home, Soldier Field, is the oldest stadium being used by a National Football League team
