(OLNEY) Richland County Sheriff Andy Hires has announced that applications are now available for one $500 college scholarship being offered through the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association as at least $58,000 is being offered throughout the State of Illinois to students wishing to pursue higher education during the 2025-2026 academic year. The scholarships are to be applied to tuition, books, and fees only and students applying must be enrolled full-time at a certified institution of higher learning within Illinois. Online learning at an Illinois-based school is also acceptable. Stop by the Sheriff’s Office in Olney or go to the Sheriffs’ Association website at ilsheriff.org/youth-2. Students must complete applications, answer the essay question, and return all documents by March 14th, 2025.
