(NEWTON) The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that a patching and resurfacing project on Route 33 from the Effingham County line to West End Avenue in Newton will begin next week, on Monday, August 4th. While lane closures are expected, flaggers will be used to direct traffic through the work zones, plus there will be up to three days where access to the Jasper County Junior High School and Newton Community High School may be restricted. The project is expected to be complete by September 1st.

(OLNEY/NEWTON) Meanwhile, road repair work continues along Illinois Route 130 from Olney northward to just past the Jasper County line. Delays are expected as that work will likely continue for the next several weeks in both Richland and Jasper Counties.
