FRIDAY NIGHT EARTHQUAKE

(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) The investigation is continuing by the U.S. Geological Survey into a small earthquake that occurred at 10:06 this past Friday night, centered just east/southeast of Cynthiana, Indiana. Measuring 2.6 magnitude, the small earthquake or tremor was felt by residents in nearby Evansville, as far south as Henderson, Kentucky and as far west as Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Authorities say there were no reports of damage or injuries as a result of the mild vibration. The U.S. Geological Survey says such an earthquake is not uncommon in the Wabash Valley Seismic Zone, which runs along the Illinois-Indiana border.
