A BUSY REST OF THE WEEK

(OLNEY) The Richland County High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) will host a “free” Teens Teach Tech Night on Thursday night, September 18th, from 6:30 to 8:00, at the Richland County High School in Olney. It’s for adults to attend and learn the basics of using iPhones and iPads, plus enjoy some free snacks while learning. Although over two weeks away, space is limited to the first twenty (20) that register, so don’t wait to sign up. (BIBLE GROVE) It’s family fun, music, and entertainment this coming Sunday afternoon at Gym Bob’s Jamboree Show in Bible Grove, in northern Clay County. With the doors opening at 12:00 noon, all shows begin at 1:00, hosted by Mike Porter, Marsha Banning, and the Gym Bob’s Jamboree Band, plus this month features a special 50’s and 60’s Show. (OLNEY) The Olney Eagles will host Freedom Rock, presented by Richland County Flags of Valor, this Saturday evening with a free meal and local musicians performing, all so the public can learn more about the Flags of Valor mission. With the meal to be served at 5:00, the entertainment lineup includes Beppler & Caudle, Missed Call, Trent Lavarier, Ryan Mugrage, & Terry Meeks. It’s all to learn more about the Flags of Valor this Saturday night.


(OLNEY) The Third Annual White Squirrel Bluegrass Festival is this Saturday afternoon and evening at the Olney City Park Band Shell. The fantastic lineup of performers includes Jess & the Hired Hands at 12:00 noon, Dennis Stroughmatt & the Cajun Band at 1:15, the Aaron Thomas Band at 2:30, The Mountain Music Ambassadors from Morehead State University at 3:45, The Ashes at 5:00, and Big Spike Hammer at 6:15. The cost is $30 per person at the gate or $25 per person in advance, while children age 12 and under are free. Also food and drinks available for purchase, plus inflatables for the kids. (OLNEY) The Olney Downtown Market is back at Bower Park, along Whittle Avenue in Olney, this Saturday from 9:00 to 1:00. For a list of vendors and other information, check the ODM page on Facebook. That’s the Olney Downtown Market this coming Saturday.


(SAILOR SPRINGS) The Clay City/Sailor Springs American Legion has another first Saturday of the month breakfast this weekend with serving from 7:00 to 10:00 with all-you-can-eat biscuits, gravy, sausage, pancakes, and drinks, all for a donation at the door this Saturday morning in Sailor Springs, just off the Clay City/Dieterich Blacktop. All are welcomed.


(OLNEY) The Richland County Farmer’s Market is under the pole barns in the Olney City Park this Friday, from 10:00 in the morning until 2:00 in the afternoon. The public can stop by and check out the fresh produce, if available, with other freshly baked items & more.


(OLNEY) The Richland County Homemakers Education Association will host another free meeting this Thursday evening at the Extension Meeting Room in Olney, starting at 5:30. Katie Bell, Extension Local Foods & Small Farms Educator will be talking about how to collect, process, & preserve common vegetable and flower seeds and more, plus a hands-on activity focused on seed germination rates will be held and questions will be taken. The meeting is free and open to anyone, whether an HEA member or not.


(OLNEY) It’s free Xtreme Bar Bingo every Wednesday night at 7:00 at the Olney American Legion, at 227 East Main Street, downtown. With cash jackpots, there will also be weekly drawings, deluxe prizes, fabulous bar prizes, and more.
