(OLNEY) Here at the official National Weather Service Weather Station for Richland County, yesterday’s low temperature for January 26th, 2026, tied the record low for that date. Six below zero (-6) was the original low set 86 years ago on January 26th, 1940. Also, our official amount of snow received here at the studio, at the south edge of Olney, in the South Industrial Park, was 12 inches, pretty much in the middle of most regional snowfall amounts, between 9 inches and 14 inches between Interstates 64 and 70. With the snow being very dry in composition, the melt down amounted to eighty-three (0.83) hundredths of an inch of liquid. The 12 inch total in Olney and Richland County is one of the highest snow totals received from one storm in history.
