‘CHRISTMASTIME’ OPPORTUNITIES IN OUR AREA

(OLNEY) Local children should get those written letters to Santa Claus, telling him what they want for Christmas, in the Letters to Santa Mailbox, now set up in Olney’s Bower Park, across Whittle Avenue, from the Olney City Hall. It’s very important that children include their full name and address so Santa can reply, plus there is no need for stamps, since Santa Claus has pre-paid all of the postage in advance. So get those letters written and drop them in the Letters to Santa Mailbox in Olney’s Bower Park, as soon as possible.

(NEWTON) The Christmas Lights in the Park in Newton continue to be lit up each weekend now through January 4th, 2025, in Peterson Park. With dozens of displays set up throughout the park, visitors can follow the signs and drive through Peterson Park from start to finish. That’s each night from 5:00 to 9:00, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Newton. Check it out.

(OBLONG) The Oblong Christmas in the Park lights and displays are now available for viewing. That’s each night now through January 1st, 2025. That’s all in the City of Oblong.

(OLNEY) The Olney Christmas Lights Display is lit up now each night through New Year’s Eve in the Olney City Park. That’s from 5:00 to 9:00 each Sunday through Thursday night and from 5:00 to 10:00 each Friday and Saturday night. Don’t forget, donations are accepted each night at the end of the display to help with expenses and repairs to the Christmas lights display. A huge “thanks” to the Bucket Brigade volunteers who show up each night.

(OLNEY) A reminder that Santa Clause will be in Olney for in-person visits this year and all children with their parents or grandparents are encouraged to stop by the Olney City Park Community Building for a visit. That’s from 6:00 to 8:00 each Friday and Saturday night for the next three weekends. So make plans now to stop by and visit with Santa Claus in Olney.

(OLNEY) It’s Christmas Pet Picture time this coming weekend, sponsored by the Humane Society of Olney. Set up at Big R, the old Rural King Store, just off of South Route 130 in Olney, folks can bring their cleaned up pets for pictures with Santa Clause this Saturday afternoon, from 1:30 to 3:30, all for a $10 donation per pet. Photographer Tim Dunahee will be on hand to snap the pics. All donations go directly to the Humane Society of Olney.
